DeFuniak Springs, FL (April 13, 2015) Chief Deputy Tax Collector Cory Godwin represented the Walton County Tax Collector’s Office last week at the Quality New Mexico Summit in Albuquerque. The Learning Summit is a conference that brings together organizations interested in improving their organizational performance.
The invitation for the Tax Collector’s Office to participate in the Learning Summit came as a result of their recognition as a Florida Governor’s Sterling Award recipient. Godwin delivered two, two-hour sessions on how organizational culture redefined the purpose of the Tax Collector team and propelled the organization towards performance excellence. All expenses related to the tax collector office’s participation in the Learning Summit were covered by Quality New Mexico.
"It was a privilege to connect with over 500 professionals committed to quality and process improvement in New Mexico,” said Godwin. “More importantly, it was exciting to share our success stories and to honor the great work of our team."
"Cory Godwin wowed our Learning Summit attendees. Thanks for sharing your incredible story!" Julia Gabaldon, President/CEO, Quality NM
Tax Collector Rhonda Skipper is pleased her team is receiving more opportunities to share their story.
“We decided as a Senior Leadership Team that if given the honor of being a Sterling Award Recipient, we wanted to use the platform to share our story in hopes of helping other teams grow and learn. We wanted to repay the kindness shown to us by other organizations that opened their doors and allowed us to learn from them,” said Skipper. “We don’t have all the answers. We make mistakes. However, we work hard to learn from them and we’re willing to share what we’ve learned with others.”
The Walton County Tax Collector’s Office is a 2014 recipient of the Florida Governor’s Sterling Award and the smallest organization to be honored with the designation. The office will participate in the June 2015 Florida Sterling Conference and have an opportunity to exhibit and share their story with conference participants.
