65 and Older Recreational Fishing and Hunting License Requirements

Florida Residents - Florida residents 65 years of age or older who have in their possession proof of age and residency or a Resident Senior Citizen Hunting and Fishing Certificate may take or attempt to take or possess saltwater fish, freshwater fish and game consistent with state and federal regulations and the rules of the Commission at the time of taking.

Florida residents 65 years of age or older who have in their possession proof of age and residency or a Resident Senior Citizen Hunting and Fishing Certificate are exempt from having the following licenses and permits: Saltwater Fishing license; Freshwater Fishing License; Hunting license; Lobster permit; Snook permit; Management Area permit; Muzzleloading Gun permit; Turkey permit; Archery permit; Crossbow permit; Migratory Bird permit; Florida Waterfowl permit; and some Quota Hunts*. They are NOT exempt from needing the following when taking or attempting to take the fish or wildlife regulated by the following permits: Tarpon Tag; Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp (federal "Duck Stamp"); Recreational Use permits; Special-Opportunity Hunts; Statewide Alligator Trapping license/Harvest permit; and some Quota Hunts*.

No-cost, complimentary hunting and fishing certificates for residents age 65 or older may be obtained from county tax collector's offices. This certificate is only valid in the State of Florida.

Other Non-Florida Residents - 65 years of age or older are NOT exempt from Florida Recreational Fishing and Hunting license and permit requirements to take or attempt to take or possess saltwater fish, freshwater fish and game. Georgia ended the reciprocal agreement with Florida in 2008.
